Conditional Sentences Type 0

Zero Conditional (Conditional sentence type 0)

Zero conditional sentences or conditional sentences of type 0 are conditional sentences that are used when the (consequence / consequence) of a condition (condition) is always materialized because it is a scientific truth (scientific fact) or a general truth (general truth) which is a habit (a habit of action). The dependent part of the clause (if + clause) can be preceded by the word "if" or "when".

We can make a conditional zero sentence with two verbs which are in the form of a simple reward (one in 'if clause' and one in 'main clause'):

If + p is not simple,…. current form.
Zero conditional sentences are used when the result will always occur. So, if the air reaches 100 degrees, always boils. That is a fact. I speak generally, not one particular situation. The result of 'If Clause' is always the main clause.

"If" in the conditional can usually be saved with "when" without changing the meaning.

Example: If water reaches 100 degrees, it boils. If the air is 100 degrees, it will boil (this is certain, there will be no difference in this), If I eat peanuts, I am sick. if I eat peanuts, I will get sick. (this is true but only for me, maybe not for others) but it is still true that I get sick every time I eat peanuts.

Consider the following examples:

If people eat too much, they get fat.
If you touch fire, you will burn.
People die if they don't eat.
You get water if you mix hydrogen and oxygen.
Snakes bite when they are afraid.
If babies are hungry, they cry.

Passive Voice

- Passive voice is a form of sentence where the subject of the sentence takes action, not takes action. Unlike active voice which focuses on the party doing the action (doer of action), this form focuses more on the party or object that receives the result of an action (receiver of action).

- Passive Voice Formulas

To form a passive sentence, the following simple formula is usually used but still has to be adjusted to the tense of the sentence.

Subject + to be (am/is/are) + past participle (pp)

The use of passive sentences with perfect continuous tenses is usually rarely done because it results in a sentence structure that is too complicated and difficult to understand. Therefore, this should be avoided even if it is grammatically correct.

The thing that must be understood in learning Passive Voice is a verb (Verb) because all active sentences that can be converted into a Passive Voice are sentences that use a verb (Verb) and the verb is a verb of the 3rd form (Verb-3)

- There are 3 types of verbs, namely:
Verb 1 >>> Present
Verb 2 >>> Past
Verb 3 >>> Past Participle

- Besides having 3 types, verbs (Verb) have 2 forms, namely:
Regular Verb (irregular): play-played-played
Irregular Verb (irregular): sing-sang-sung

- The function of the passive voice
Passive voice is used to show interest in a person or object that is subjected to an action and not a person or object performing the action. So, the most important thing or person will be the subject of the sentence.

- Example
The passive voice is used frequently. (= we are interested in the passive voice, not in who uses it.)
The house was built in 1654. (= we are interested in the house, not in who built it.)
The road is being repaired. (= we are interested in the path, not in who did the repair.)
Sometimes, we use passive voice because we don't know or don't want to say who did the action.
